인물소개

1985-1997년 일리노이대학(University of Illinois) 교수를 지냈고, 1997-현재, 워싱턴대학(University of Washington) 교수로 있다. 중국 여성사 전반에 관심을 가지고 여성·가족·사회를 연구하고 있다. 주요 저서 및 공저로는 'Patricia Buckley Ebrey and Maggie Bickford, Emperor Huizong and late Northern Song China : the politics of culture and the culture of politics'(Cambridge, Harvard University Asia Center, 2006), 'Women and the family in Chinese history'(Routledge, 2003), '(사진과 그림으로 보는) 케임브리지 중국사' (시공사, 2001) 등이 있다. 대표적인 논문으로는 'Women in the Kinship System of the Southern Song Upper Class', 'Concubines in Sung China, The Dynamics of Elite Domination in Sung China' 등 다수가 있다.
