인물소개

미국 펜실베니아주(Pennsylvania) 스크랜톤(Scranton)에서 태어났으며, 1968년 이후 캐나다 토론토에서 살면서 도시를 바꾸는 일에 적극적인 역할을 했다. 2006년 봄 89세의 나이로 토론토 병원에서 사망하였다. 제인 제이콥스의 주요 다른 저서를 보면 『The Death and Life of Great American Cities』(1961), 『The Economy of Cities』(1968), 『The Question of Separatism』(1980), 『Cities and the Wealth of Nations』(1984), 『Systems of Survival』(1993), 『A Schoolteacher in Old Alaska』(1996) 등이다.
