인물소개

영국 브래드퍼드대학(University of Bradford) 평화학과 국제개발 학부의 외교안보학과 교수이다. 런던 킹스칼리지(King’s College London)에서 로렌스 프리드먼(Lawrence Freedman) 교수 지도하에 「흐루쇼프 휘하의 소련 전략적 무기 정책(Soviet Strategic Arms Policy under Khrushchev)」으로 박사학위를 받았다. 리즈대학(Uni-versity of Leeds) 국제학 교수, 리딩대학(University of Reading) 국제 및 유럽학 교수로 재직했으며, 연세대학교 객원교수를 지냈다. 현재 국내외 다양한 기관과 학술 교류를 이어가고 있다. 동북아 안보와 핵무기 정책, 핵 비확산 정책, 무기통제 분야의 전문가로서 국제 안보에 관한 13권의 학술 저서와 다수의 연구 논문을 집필했다. 대표저작으로 Britain, Germany and Western Nuclear Strategy(1995), Hotspot Korea(2008), Crisis on the Korean Peninsula(2011), US Foreign Policy in the Caucasus and Central Asia: Politics, Energy and Security(2014), Shadows of War: Arms Control and the Military Con-frontation in Central Europe during the Cold War(2020) 등이 있다.
