인물소개

신약 배경사 및 주석 분야의 세계적인 신약학자다. 신약과 기독교의 기원에 관한 연구로 듀크 대학교에서 박사학위를 받았다. 이스턴 침례신학교에서 15년 가까이 가르치면서 필라델피아 소재 아프리카계 미국인 침례교회의 협동목사로 섬겼으며, 현재는 애즈버리 신학교 신약학 교수로 있다. 저서로는 『IVP 성경배경주석: 신약』(IVP),『요한계시록-NIV적용주석』(솔로몬), 『현대를 위한 성령론』(새물결플러스), 『키너 요한복음 1, 2, 3』(CLC), And Marries Another: Divorce and Remarriage in the Teaching of the New Testament (1991), Paul, Women & Wives: Marriage and Women’s Ministry in the Letters of Paul (1992), Matthew (IVP New Testament Commentary Series, 1997), 1-2 Corinthians (New Cambridge Bible Commentary, 2006), The Historical Jesus of the Gospels (2009), Romans (New Covenant Commentary Series, 2009), Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Accounts (2011), Acts: An Exegetical Commentary (4 vols., 2012-15), Galatians (New Cambridge Bible Commentary, 2018) 등이 있다.
